Kay M1 Upright Bass (1962)

Description

Kay M1 Upright Bass. Crafted in 1962, in Chicago, Serial # 44894. I've had it for many years, but I developed arthritis on my left hand so I cannot play it anymore. Had to get short scale electric basses instead. The finish shows it's age, but sounds and plays very nicely. Comes with a gig bag. It also has an Underwood pickup installed on the bridge (worth about $ 200). There's a repair patch of about 5" x 6" on the side in the bottom of the bass (see photo), and one of the tuning pegs broke off and was replaced with a Mexican coin. It was in this condition when I got the bass and it has worked nicely over the years without any problems. I mainly used in the studio.
I'm throwing in a bow and rosin.
