  • Condition: The bar cord which suspends the bars has been professionally replaced and he also did something to replace the bar insulators which had rotted away. Part of the patent information label has been lost. The "N" in the front label is no longer visible. There is some loss of finish on the middle of the bars but it does not appear to affect the tone. What I believe is the original mallet is in excellent condition, including the felt damper. Please inspect the photos.

    Description

    This is a five-tone dinner chime made by the J.C. Deagan company in Chicago.  It is model 500.
    This appears to be the original mallet, determined by its similarity to one shown in an advertisement (ball shape on end opposite striker and four turned grooves).
    It is 9.5" wide and 10.5" tall and 3" tall.
    The mallet is 9" long.
    The tone on this is wonderful and there is fabulous resonance from the box.  I wish I could include a recording!
    I have a copy of the 24 page, c1917, Deagan Musical Dinner Chime Music that I produced from an online, public-domain copy.  I do not believe I can gift this copyrighted work to the buyer.  I think I can legally email a printable electronic document that I made from the online copy or surely direct you to the online copy.
